ReplyMay 21, 2014 · Hello, hoping to get some help from more car experienced people than myself. For the past week or 2 I have noticed some noise coming from the front of my car when braking (I would probably describe it as a rumbling noise, almost seems to be coming mostly from the driver's side, but I could be wrong there).
ReplyStep 1 Start the car. A knocking noise that only happens on engine start up for a few seconds might be a sign that the oil is bad. When s tarting a vehicle after a long period of sitting still (like in the morning before work), the oil pump has more work to do than normal. It has to get oil to all the little moving bits and pieces in the valve train so that they don't wear themselves out.
ReplyOct 28, 2006 · When I press the brake pedal, I can hear a popping sound. The brakes work fine, no grabbing, pulling or pulsating. The popping doesnt doesnt have any effect on the brakes themselves. The sound only happens when I am stepping on the brake, sometimes it will do it just sitting with the car in park and pressing the brake, sometimes it wont.
ReplyMost of the time when I brake at low speeds I hear a clicking type sound, that is fairly faint. I do NOT hear squeaking, grinding or any high pitched noises that might indicate my brake pads are wearing down, or anything that sounds really bad. I also do NOT feel anything in the pedal with the clicking/tapping.

If I pump the brakes it goes away slightly, but as I come to a complete stop it always makes the noise.
ReplyAny squeak in your vehicle can be annoying, especially if it continues to get worse. Here are four common types of squeaks that come from the brakes—problems that come through the shop everyday—plus a fifth (bonus) brake noise, a scraping noise.
